1967

John Colton and family move to Arizona while he partners with an Arizona based Pre-Engineered Building Contractor.

1970

Colton Building Systems founded by John Colton to compete in the Pre-Engineered Building Market.

1973

Several hundred buildings constructed throughout Arizona.

1979

Bob Colton joins Colton Building Systems and offers Full Service General Contracting.

1982

3 million square feet of buildings completed.

1992

Renamed Colton Constructors, combining General Construction with steel components.

1998

Colton Constructors begins doing work out of state, primarily in the Southwest.

2007

Colton Constructors completes largest project to date. $15 Million Design Build Honda Dealership.

2010

Colton Constructors celebrates 40 year anniversary.

COLTON Constructors is a top general contractor in Phoenix and has been providing construction services in the Southwest for over 50 years.

John G. Colton moved to Phoenix in 1967 with his family. The roots of Colton began in 1970 with the formation of Colton Building Systems which was established to provide Pre-Engineered metal buildings as a design/build service to owners and General Contractors.

In just three years, he constructed several hundred buildings throughout the state, and by 1982, he had built an additional 3 million square feet of buildings under his own name. As Phoenix grew, Colton Building Systems grew with it, taking on more complex projects. Colton repeatedly attracted owners because of our attention to detail and integrity.

In 1979, Bob Colton joined the firm after graduating from Arizona State University’s Engineering Department and expanded its operation by offering complete commercial and industrial contracting, design-build, and specialized tenant improvement services.

With the growth of the general contracting business, in 1990 Colton Building Systems changed its name to COLTON Constructors, Inc. to better reflect the business operations of both specialized General Contracting Services and Custom Pre-Engineered Building services.

With more than 50 years experience and with repeat and referral business representing over 80% of new projects, Colton continues with the same attention to detail, honesty and integrity as its founder embraced back in 1970.

While COLTON Constructors has built many buildings in Arizona, it has successfully completed projects in surrounding states including California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and Nevada.
